FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Deane House Reopening
January 24nd, 2020
New Menus Available at DeaneHouse.com
CALGARY, AB (January 20, 2020) Deane House, the popular Inglewood restaurant, is reopening its doors to diners on January 24, 2020. A sprinkler malfunction at Deane last September damaged the restaurant forcing it to shut down for the remainder of the year while it underwent extensive repairs and refurbishment.
The historic house has once again been restored as a gorgeous, contemporary reimagining of a lush and romantic past; the architectural detail, vintage artwork and authentic artifacts have all been lovingly reassembled under the guidance of accomplished restaurateur Sal Howell. Howell is founder of the iconic River Café, which was awarded Canada’s Greenest Restaurant in 2019 by LEAF, and is a long-time champion of seasonal, local, and sustainable food.
“The history of the house is a great conversation starter,” says Howell, “it gives us the opportunity to take a deeper dive into the idea of bringing history to life, through the ingredients that are indigenous to the area, and the culinary traditions new Canadians brought with them when they settled here. ”
In the kitchen, Chef Chris Barton leads the talented culinary team. His menu pulls inspiration from the history of the region and from the original inhabitant of the house, Captain Richard Burton Deane. Deane left many clues to his life’s journey, culinary curiosity and reputation as an excellent host in his book, “Mounted Police Life in Canada.” The menu is set up to encourage sharing, and guests can explore the vegetable-forward selections a-la-carte, or leave the decisions to the chef, who will curate a selection to suit their taste.
Sal Howell, Chef Chris Barton, and the entire Deane House team invite you to join them for a timeless, magical culinary experience. Deane House reopens January 24, 2020, for lunch, dinner, weekend brunch, afternoon cocktails, and Sunday live-jazz supper.
Located centrally at the gateway to Inglewood with easy access to the downtown core. Guest parking onsite and on street. Reserve your table now.
